THHBFB09B Provide responsible service of alcohol

This unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to satisfy the requirements for responsible service of alcohol under State/Territory legislation. All persons undertaking training as part of a National Certificate in the service of alcohol must complete this unit.

This training can be undertaken individually, whenever, wherever you have access to an internet connection
Every licensed premises - a Cellar Door outlet, large residential hotel, a small local pub, RSL Club, sporting club, restaurant, nightclub, or function centre, is part of the licensed hospitality industry.

All persons involved in this industry must comply with a range of rules and regulations. These rules and regulations are made by parliament, the liquor and gaming authorities, local councils, the industry as a whole, and each individual operator. Altogether these rules provide directions for the legal and responsible operation of businesses within the hospitality industry. The consequences of breaches of these rules depend upon who made the rule and the extent of the breach.

Persons attempting this unit need access to the Legislation which applies to their premises, the Industry Self Regulation (Codes of Practice) information, and a copy of the Common Law "Duty of Care"

By attempting this unit, you will be training in subjects that include

  • Benefits of Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Identify Customers to Whom Service May be Refused
  • Under Age Customers

When completed you will be issued a Statement of Attendance for ‘Provide responsible service of alcohol’.
