credit transfer

Credit transfer involves assessing a previously completed course or subject to see if it provides equivalent learning or competency outcomes to those required within your current course of study.

The purpose of credit transfer is to make it easier for students to move between courses and institutions. This gives people more opportunities to fulfil their potential and respond to changing employment needs.

It means you can gain credit for previous study so you can complete your current qualifications quicker.

Credit transfer allows you to count relevant, successfully completed studies achieved at TAFE institutes, accredited private providers, professional organisations or enterprises and universities toward your current course of qualifications.

It can also be cross-sectoral. For example, you may seek to have vocational education and training in school qualifications credited against vocational education and training subjects or subjects offered through higher education institutions.

Credit transfer can make it easier for you to complete a new course as it allows credit to be granted for previous relevant studies, and can shorten the time it takes you to complete a new course.

In order to claim credit, you must provide evidence of your previous studies, such as a Qualification Parchment or a Statement of Attainment, issued by the appropriate institution.
