Qualification Levels

RMT offers courses at a range of levels from Certificate I to Advanced Diploma and Degree. Some qualifications are nested, meaning that the lower level certificate is incorporated into the one above. This means that the required Certificates are completed in sequence and progress through to the higher level qualifications, like Advanced Diploma. Alternatively, you may enter at Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Degree level if you meet the entry requirements.

Certificate I

This first level provides training in basic skills and routine tasks which are performed under direct supervision in the workplace.

Certificate II

At this level training involves developing operational knowledge and higher skills for solving a variety of straightforward work-based problems with supervision.

Certificate III

At this level additional theoretical knowledge and higher skills are developed for solving a variety of problems using discretion and judgement, now under a limited degree of supervision.

Certificate IV

At this level a broad knowledge base is developed as well as the skills to analyse and evaluate information, and to apply the knowledge and skills to a wide variety of workplace contexts. Training also involves taking limited responsibility for other staff.

Diploma

A diploma develops a broad theoretical knowledge and/or substantial technical or creative skills. Analysis, judgement and planning are involved across a broad range of technical and/or management situations.
