Inert Gases

In the wine industry, a number of gases may be used throughout the winemaking process. Of these gases, three are called inert gases. They are:

Carbon dioxide (CO2)

(N2)and

Argon (Ar)

Other gases that may be used in the winery include sulfur dioxide, air, oxygen, propane and ammonia, but these are not inert gases.
